Sage Payroll Training Course  

This course provides delegates with the essential skills they need to operate Sage Payroll. At the end of the course you will be able to operate the Sage Payroll software from the beginning to the year end, maximising the full potential of the software.



Course Content Available Dates
  • Planning: the change from the manual system, associate parallel running and cross-referencing.


  • SSP and SMP: Preparing and recording sickness and maternity pay, processing payments and make up basic routines.


  • Government Tables: Maintaining PAYE and NI tables.


  • Employee Details: Creating records and maintaining records of essential information..


  • Starters and Leavers: Recording new staff and removing staff with or without P45 details and generating P45 details.


  • Year-End: Producing year-end reports and preparing for a new tax year.


  • Holiday Pay: Entering holiday pay and calculating PAYE.


  • Company Details: Creating tables and deductions, departmental options and pension schemes.


  • Links to Sage Accounting Software: The preconditions for linking accounts and payroll, the choice of nominal coding, generating transactions, and the effects of different software versions.


  • Company Cars and Class 1A NIC: Creating and maintaining vehicle records, coping with first and second vehicles, concurrent and non-concurrent vehicles, maintaining mileage records to support returns and choices at year end for making payment.


  • Security: Backing Up of Data


  • Holidays and Absences: Setting up holiday schemes, accrual holidays, maintaining records of holidays which are booked or taken, recording absences, and reporting holidays and absences.


  • Reports: (Including Month End, P32, P11D, Attachment Reports, Class 1A.)

Who Should Attend: The person(s) who have responsibility for implementing the payroll, including the person who fills this position in a temporary capacity covering for absences such as holidays, sickness, etc.

Preparation: Before you attend the course, you should be familiar with payroll terms such as SSP, PAYE, P45, etc, familiarize yourself with the Sage Payroll software, define the exact details of pension schemes where your company operates a pension scheme.
